Plumeting smoke. Dirty machinery. Uncountable numbers of young people - happy to traverse that world of large scale technology in search for the grander view - the bigger picture of more smoke, more dirt, more machinery extracting matter from earth. A dark lullaby.
Objective description
Smoke. Dirt. Steel construction. Raw industry of extraction. Heavy machinery in an open coal pit. Therein, a stream of mostly young people wearing helmets explores the steel construction. They climb upwards in hope of a view, rewarded with more industrial reality. Smoke. Dirt. Steel construction.
Plausible association
Scathed landscape, a well of wealth. Here seen as rich in poisonous air and foggy vision—yet a site visited by the younger generation. Are they out for inspiration? Are they out for inspection? Are they prepared to handle what they see? The film may suit contexts dealing with the extractivist economy and its narrative of societal sustenance.
Artistic intention
This film exaggerates on both ends: the scope of the industrial poisoning as wella sthe scope of its museeification. As often exagerration makes vissible.
